Tsuga, Chiba — Japan
Tsuga1976
A house from 1976. Stay the way you live.
Five minutes from Tsuga Station. A whole house for up to eight.
A house cared for over half a century. Not a hotel — a place to come home to.
Five minutes on foot from JR Tsuga Station, on a quiet residential corner, stands a house with deep navy walls. Chiba Station is two stops away, Narita Airport about forty minutes direct, and Tokyo roughly an hour. A good base for exploring, and a good place to gather.
Three bedrooms hold three double beds and two singles. Furniture, appliances and bedding were all replaced in March 2026. Cook in the kitchen, run the washer and gas dryer, step out into the garden. It is a house where travel slows back down to the rhythm of daily life.
"1976" is the year the house was built. Rather than tear it down, we chose to keep repairing and keep living in it. The old beams and sliding doors remain; the bathroom, kitchen and beds are as comfortable as today allows.

LIVING
A room to gather in
Living, dining and kitchen flow into one room. Eight people fit around the big sofa and the long table. A 43-inch TV, air conditioning in every room, and fast Wi-Fi.

KITCHEN
Cook the way you do at home
A two-burner gas stove, a rice cooker, and cookware and tableware for everyone. Oil, salt, pepper and soy sauce are waiting. A 24-hour supermarket is a five-minute walk.

BEDROOMS
Three bedrooms
A double-bed room on the ground floor, and two rooms upstairs each with a double and a single. Three groups, three doors to close. A soft lamp by each pillow, and air conditioning year round.

BATH & LAUNDRY
A bathtub, and a dryer
A bathroom with a tub, a washlet toilet, a proper washstand. A washing machine and a gas dryer mean you can pack light even for a long stay. Towels and toiletries are provided.

GARDEN
A small garden
Step out of the front door and you are on the lawn. Room for children to run, or for a slow start to the morning. The neighbourhood is quiet, and time moves slowly here.
